Stampin Up “Birthday Blooms” Shutter Card

Hi Stampers, Today I have a wonderful fun card that I want to share with you.  This card is called a “shutter card” and when you scroll down and see the pictures you will see how it got its name.  The shutter opens to reveal your sentiment when the card is opening.  Thank you Sandi MacIver for the fantasic tutorial that helped me create this card.

Here is the recipe for the basic card:

Card Base: Pool Party 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 scored at each end at 2-1/8 fold these panels toward the center. (You are making what we call a gate fold)

Front panels: 1-3/4 x 5-1/8 with Birthday Bouquet DSP

Removing the Belly Band to take a peek inside:

Making the Belly Band:

Band: Blushing Bride 1x 11 wrapped around the card and put together with a glue dot.

Circles: Large circle, Blushing Bride cut with the circle framelits (6th from the center) Small circle, cut with Birthday Bouquet DSP with the 2-1/2 inch circle punch.

The Flower:  I stamped the image from the Birthday Blooms Stamp set with Staz on Black ink.  I used water color paper and my blender pen to color the rose with Blushing Bride ink and shaded with Watermelon Wonder ink.

The Leaves: Again I used the blender pen and colored in the leaves with Old Olive and shaded with Mossy Meadow inks.  When the flower is all colored in take your paper snips, relax and fussy cut your flower.

Ribbon: Pool Party 3/8 glitter ribbon and some Love Blossom embellishments and pearls complete the belly band.

The inside:

The belly band has been removed and the card is just partially open.  See the next picture as the shutter opens even more to reveal the sentiment on the inside.

The Flower:  the tiny flower that you see on the inside is using water color paper and the same technique as the large rose in the directions above.  After you fussy cut the flower you can attach it to the inside of the card.

The card is fully open, see the shutter and the sentiment?  Squeal, this is such a cool card and I just love the action that happens upon opening it up.

Here is the recipe for the inside of the card:

Inside Mat: Pool Party 3 x 5-1/2

DSP Mat: Birthday Bouquet DSP 2-3/4 x5-1/4  After the two piece are adhered cut the circle with the circle framelit (5th one from the center)

Shutter parts: cut 2, 3-1/2 x 4 scored 1/2 inch on end of each. Make a dot at the center of the card and cut an angle from the top to the center point to get the angled cut.
