Stampin’ Up! Needlepoint Nook for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hi Stampers, Today for our hop we had a color challenge with Berry Burst, Old Olive and Crushed Curry.  I had some, never been used Needlepoint Nook DSP and thought that the colors were perfect for this challenge.  I do not have the coordinating stamp set that matches the paper so I had to put my thinking cap on and figure out what to do. I came up with this idea (with the help of Pinterest and Bonnie ONeill) and thought that the paper will do most of the work with just a touch of fussy cutting to complete the card.

Here is the color challenge:

Stampin’ Up! Needlepoint Nook:

Here is the recipe:

Card base: Old Olive

Mat: Whisper White

Diagonal panel: Berry Burst and Needlepoint Nook DSP 5-1/8 x 3-7/8

Sentiment piece: Whisper White Stitched Shapes (circle) and  an Old Olive Layering Scallop Circle Framelits

Here is the recipe:

the sentiment

  • Stamp the sentiment onto the Whisper White Stitched Circle Framelit
  • Mount it to the Old Olive Scallop Circle
  • Fussy cut some of the flowers from the Needlepoint Nook DSP and attach to the edge of the sentiment piece
  • Stamp the leaf image from the Rooted Stamp Set in Old Olive Ink then die cut them out to add foliage to the little flower bouquet
  • Add some Rhinestones to the sentiment piece

the card front

  • Take your two panels, one Needlepoint Nook and one Berry Burst and cut them in half diagonally
  • Run the Berry Burst panel through your Big Shot using the Country Floral EF
  • Attach the two diagonal panels to the Whisper White mat
  • Adhere a Berry Burst Ribbon diagonally over the seam of the two papers

More Details:

  • Attach your matted panel to the front of the card with dimensionals
  • Attach your matted sentiment piece to  the front of the card with dimensionals
  • Add a Berry Burst bow and your are finished

Another option:

I did two cards and could not decide which one to highlight for the blog.  Which one do you like the best?

Alternate Monday Stampin’ Up! Painted Season

Hi Stampers, It’s Alternate Monday day.  That means I am sharing a card taken from the blog hop that I participate in each Thursday. I am taking either the sketch or color challenge and making a second card that is close to or similar to the posted card from the hop.  I want to inspire you to get different looks for your card by mixing it up a bit by color and design.  Today I used the same layout, with a twist and changed the colors to give the card an “Alternate” look.

Stampin’ Up! Painted Season:

Here is the recipe:

Card base: Whisper White 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored at 4-1/4

Mat: Poppy Parade 5 x 3-7/8

DSP: Painted Season 4-7/8 x 3-3/4

Sentiment: Whisper White  Stitched Rectangle Framelits

Lace piece: Whisper White from the Petals and More Framelit Dies

Here are the details:

  • Stamp your leaves and flowers onto Whisper White card stock as follows
  • Flower: Poppy Parade, Large leaves: Call Me Clover, Small leaves: Granny Apple Green
  • Stamp your sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto the rectangle framelit

More details:

  •  Adhere your DSP onto the Poppy Parade mat
  • Wrap a piece of Call Me Clover ribbon around the panel
  • Attach this panel to the card front with dimensionals
  • Attach your sentiment to the card front with dimensionals
  • Adhere the lace piece to the sentiment
  • Attach your flower and leaves with glue dots
  • Finish your card with some Call Me Clover Enamel Dots and a bow

Here is the card inspiration:

You can see that I changed the position from vertical to horizontal and used DSP instead of the embossing folder for my background.  Which one to do you like best?  If I had to pick, I would choose this card as my favorite as is brighter and I like cards that pop!

Can I help you?
