Alternate Monday Stampin’ Up! Pick a Pumpkin

Hi Stampers, It’s Alternate Monday day.  That means I am sharing a card taken from the blog hop that I participate in each Thursday. I am taking either the sketch or color challenge and making a second card that is close to or similar to the posted card from the hop.  I want to inspire you to get different looks for your card by mixing it up a bit by color and design.  Today I used the same layout, with a twist and changed the colors to give the card an “Alternate” look.

Stampin’ Up! Pick a Pumpkin:

Here is the card recipe:

Art Piece: Very Vanilla 5 x 3

Art Piece mat: Early Espresso 5-1/8 x 3-1/8

  • Adhere the Lemon Lime Twist mat to your card base
  • Adhere the DSP to the Lemon Lime Twist mat

(For each of the stamped pumpkins, I first inked up the pumpkin in the desired color ink and then I took my blender pen and *erased” the pumpkin color off the stem.  Then take your Stampin Write Marker and color in the stem with Lemon Lime Twist.  Proceed to do all the pumpkins with this technique

Using the stamps from Pick A Pumpkin:

  • Stamp the  tall pumpkin with Tangerine Tango
  • Stamp the tallest pumpkin with Cajun Craze, ( moved it up a bit so there were different heights)
  • Stamp the gourd with Peekaboo Peach
  • Stamp the short pumpkin next to the tall one with Tangerine Tango
  • Stamp the pumpkin faces with Basic Black ink
  • Run this through your Big shot using the Pinewood Planks EF
  • Adhere your embossed art piece to the Black mat and adhere to the front of the card with dimensional

More Pumpkins:

  • Stamp the pumpkin with the triangles in Peekaboo Peach ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock
  • Stamp the two tiny pumpkins in Cajun Craze Ink onto Very Vanilla card stock
  • Die cut these three pumpkins and adhere to the front of the card with dimensionals (the left tiny pumpkin had double dimensionals for added height)
  • Add some Lemon Lime Twist leaves and vines to the the group of pumpkins
  • Add some wooden leaves to the pumpkin stems. I colored them a bit to bring more Early Espresso color into my card.

  • The sentiment is from the Tiny Tiny Wishes stamp set. It is stamped with Early Espresso ink and punched out with the Modern Label punch
  • Add a Lemon Lime Twist bow to the bottom on your sentiment
  •  Finish off with some gold metallic dots for added bling

I really love your “alternate Monday” idea of switching a card up a bit. I need to work on my creative juices and this helps. Also love your detailed explanation of what you do and how to put the card together – really helpful for us that are still new (or new-ish) to card making. Thanks!

Thank you Linda, it’s amazing how much easier the second one is after you figure out the first one. I’m glad the instructions help.
